new additions

Introducing.
The Sactional.
So we've been looking into buying a new couch for a while, at LoveSac couches. We took a trip out to Fashion Place on Thursday to make a ring payment and ended up in the LoveSac store. The kid who was working, Matt, was all we needed to know that we had to have one of these couches.
I must say, this is the most comfortable couch I have ever sat on.
It was a bit pricey, but it has a lifetime guarantee (as long as the company doesn't sink) and it can be changed, both position and cover. Which is nice, because the way we have it now, it's called the move lounger, but we can move the bases and make it into a sectional if we need for sitting space for more people!
The building of it was a little complicated. It took some time to take everything out of the boxes and put all the covers on, not to mention that we built it wrong the first time, but we got it all up and running and we love it!
We could sleep on it, no lie. It's that comfortable.
And these are my cute new shoes. :)
I have been looking for orange pumps FOR-EVER.
I have a skirt that has different colored polka-dots on it, and I wear it with a cream colored shirt and an orange camisole. The problem has always been that black doesn't match, and neither does brown.
So I needed orange.
And I finally found them.
Thank you to Jenny and Patty for telling me about them.
They found them at Charlotte Rousse, and they were only 30 dollars.
Best part about it.
They were having a sale...buy one get one for ten dollars.
So...I got these
Same shoe, just in grey. But they are fab, and I think they will look SO great with jeans.
So excited!

so I was going to write about this the other day but as soon as I started my mother-in-law called and offered to take us for sushi, and I never turn down sushi.
Anyway. I'm here to vent. If you don't want to read it, then don't. But people lately disgust me.
To start off.
The Sloops.
If you don't live in the 801, or live under a rock then I'll give you a brief summary of this story.
Warning...it's messed up, and I will be including details which are graphic.

So, Ethan Stacy, a four year old little boy, is Stephanie Sloop's son. Stephanie and Ethan's father, Joe, finalized their divorce on the 28th of April and part of the court order was that Ethan comes to Utah from Virginia to stay with his mother for the summer. So, Joe sent his son to stay with his mother, even though he didn't want to, and his son didn't want to go with his mother. Ethan was reported missing on May 10, by his mother who said that he had a tendency of running away..the next day, us (the general public) learn that Ethan did not run away but he was murdered.
By his mother and step-father.
Ethan had been in Utah for less than ten days when his mother's boyfriend started abusing him. Hit him in the head several times, enough to make the little boy's brain start to swell. The Sloops then locked Ethan in his room and took off the doorknob while they went to the courthouse to get married. Nathan Sloop then burned Ethan in scalding hot bath water, and continued to beat him. Stephanie came home one day to learn that Ethan was dead in his bed. Nathan had beaten him so badly that he killed the boy.
I can't understand how you can give birth to a child and then do absolutely NOTHING to stop your boyfriend/husband from killing your four year old little boy!?
WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU!?
Then it gets worse.
Nathan had killed Ethan, and the two of them decided they had to get rid of the body.
The couple then took a hammer to the little boy's face to make him unrecognizable.
Nathan then sent Stephanie to the store to buy lighter fluid so they could destroy the evidence when they buried the body.
They traveled up toward Wolf Canyon, with Ethan's body in garbage bags. Stephanie waited in the card while Nathan took Ethan to bury the body; where he further desecrated it before burying it.
Then the two of them poured lighter fluid around the grave and lit everything on fire.

Disgusting. Absolutely disgusting. How messed up do you have to be to kill a FOUR YEAR OLD, that has only been with you for ten days, and then take a hammer to your own son's face?
What pisses me off even more is that the judicial system in the United States isn't the fastest process ever.
These are two people who have admitted to everything that they did, and they will still go through years of jail time, and trials until they end up in jail.
Then there is the whole "death row" process.
Texas is the best state when it comes to death row. It's like an express lane down there, and they kill people faster than anywhere else in the country.
If people are admitting to murder, then why don't we just kill them now?
I don't want to hear anything about cruel and unusual anything, they deserve everything that is coming their way.
Not to mention the poor dad of this little boy. He's across the country, this little boy is his life, and he gets phone call telling him of this awful tragedy.
I think we should let him take Nathan Sloop into a room and beat the shit out of him.
It won't bring his little boy back, but Sloop deserves every second of it.

Another person that absolute disgusts me at the moment.
Sean Hannity.
Oh my word.
John's grandma listens to his radio show daily while she irons for the laundromat and the other day John happened to be in the back room when Hannity started talking about the Mosque that is being built at Ground Zero in New York.
Hannity had the audacity to say that we are letting the people who blew up these buildings, build on this land.
EXCUSE ME!?
I absolutely hate people who group people.
First off, I don't know that I believe what the media says happened on 9/11, what the government says.
But I do know that Muslim Radicals is NOT every Muslim.
Wake up Sean Hannity, THEY'RE RADICALS.
JUST LIKE YOU.
How dare you state that because it is a place of worship for the Muslim religion, it's the same people that brought down the twin towers.
The worst part is that when he says things like this, people believe it and actually agree with his thinking!
Like Gram.
I really think someone needs to take her radio away while she's at the laundromat because she's filling her head with Hannity, and it's awful.

So I vented.
And I'm not as angry today as I was on Thursday.
But talking about it, still pisses me off.
Our world is going to hell in a hand basket.
Great.

It's decided.
I've wanted new hair for a while and I haven't been able to figure out which hairstyle/color I wanted.
This is it.
The length and color (my natural color) in this picture is what I'm going for.
Officially.

it's coming...

I stole this from one Lindsey Jayne. I watched it on her blog, and was kind of speechless afterward.

A lot of people won't like this, won't agree with it; but this is who I am, and this is what I know.

it's been a while...

There has been a lot going on recently, and I haven't had the motivation to blog about it. But my dear friend Melissa told me I needed to so here I am.
First things first, we sold the Jeep. Not for what we were asking, but we were still able to pay it off and have money left over to go toward a new car.
We finally have two cars; John's FJ, and the Honda that I wanted and loved. (Pictured below).
Funny story. Kind of not, but I'll tell it anyway.
So John and I picked up the Honda on a Friday, and because we bought it from a private seller we had to go to the DMV. Since the state of Utah has the lovely 4 day work week, there is only one DMV open on Fridays and that it the office in Draper, out by the prison. Yippee skipee. We hadn't registered the FJ yet so we figured we'd just do both at the same time. So, we drove all the way out there (with no license plates) and got there and registered the FJ and then gave the Bill of Sale for the Honday to the lady at the DMV when she told us that it was invalid because there was white out on it. GREAT. Thank you lady. It wasn't just something we could fix quickly, seeing as the people we bought the car from live up north around Logan. So we had to wait until Monday. We still drove the Honda all weekend, we figured we'd just keep the bill of sale for if we got pulled over. John went and got a new bill of sale signed Monday, so Tuesday morning we got up at the butt crack of dawn to go to the DMV before work. Because it was Tuesday we didn't have to drive so far this time; we left our house right around seven in the AM and we got about 2 blocks away from our house when we got pulled over.
Seriously?
I drove the car all weekend without plates and ON THE WAY to the DMV we get pulled over for not having plates. John explained to the officer that we had just purchased it, and where we were headed, but I don't think he completely understood the process, he kept asking where the plates were. John gave him the bill of sale, his license, and our insurance policy number (because the car was insured, we just didn't have the card yet) so the PO checked John's record and then let us on our way, thank goodness.
Anyway, 900 dollars later, we got plates on the Honda.
Secondly. Broozer left on his mission. I cried my eyes out. I have been dreading the day since he opened his call, and it was definitely as hard as I thought it would be saying goodbye.
Everyone who was able to went to lunch before we headed down to Provo. Good ol' Chuck-o-Rama, only the Roos' favorite place to eat whenever we can.
I don't know why we chose to take the picture in front of the sign, maybe to remember that, that is where we ate? No clue.

The infamous Missionary Training Center sign. This was before we all started crying. We look happy to send him off, but I tell you, it was the worst thing ever. It honestly felt like he was dying. I hated every moment of it. I'm getting used to it though, I loved getting his first email and look every day for a letter. It's just like when I was writing missionaries whom I had dated and/or were friends with in high school. Except not, because he's my brother and that's weird.
Anyway, he's loving it. Within the first three days he totally got into full on missionary mode. His first email was insane, he sounded like he'd been out a year already.
If you're in Houston, please take care of him. Thanks.
Next, Daniel and Mandy are finally engaged. They are getting married August 16th, and we are very excited for them.
Her ring is gorgeous; and huge. They've started planning and I think she's already stressed out.
I don't miss that feeling.
This is from her rose passing in Beta. The only picture I have that they're both smiling.
Her eyes are closed. NBD.
John sold one of his bears! To Daniel's family, but still, it works!
If you didn't know, John decided one day that he was going to carve bears with a chain saw out of tree stumps. He actually is very talented.
How cute is this little guy?
If you're looking for a bear like this, for a cabin or for any other reason, he has more, and he is willing to custom make them.

I must give a shout out to my girl Mel Nash. BYU women's lacrosse won their tournament this weekend, and she scored the goal that tied, and won the game for them.
So, congrats lady!
And good luck at nationals next month!
A little inquiry for all of you out there. Rufus has learned to lift his leg and has started to pee on EVERYTHING. (He peed on my Mom's leg today...eek.) Does anyone know a remedy for this disgusting habit?

"So they just passed a health care plan written by a committee whose chairman says he didn't understand it, passed by a Congress that exempts themselves from it, signed by a president who smokes, with funding administered by a treasury chief who didn't pay his taxes, all to be overseen by a surgeon general who is obese - and better yet it is to be financed by a country that's broke?"
This is frighteningly legitimate.
