time for an update..

Well...it's been a couple weeks so I figured I would update you on the Lawrence's.
This past weekend we went down to Loa, Utah.
It's down by Capital Reef. (I didn't know where it was either.)
We went down there because Patty is in charge of the Trek for her stake this year and she decided that everyone going on the trek needed a walking stick.
Tacey's dad, Alton, is the forest ranger down there and so he was able to obtain a permit for her to cut down river birch trees. So, Jenny, John, Patty, and I all piled into the truck and made the journey down to Loa.
Dust, Tacey and the kids also went down this weekend, and two of Tacey's sisters were down there with their kids.
The cutting down of the trees wasn't as terrible as I thought it was going to be. Tacey's whole family ended up helping out, which they deserve more than a huge thank-you for. We were able to get it done in two and a half hours, which was much less time than I originally anticipated it to be.
John and I had to be back in Salt Lake by seven thirty because we had plans, but we had some time to spare before we left, and the four wheelers had been pulled out.
My love. I had never driven a four wheeler, but I'd been on the back of one.
I rode with Tacey for a little bit, and then I got to drive it. I have never loved anything more. The whole feeling of driving it was awesome.
John has always said that he wants to be able to live somewhere that he can have a tractor and people won't think twice about it, and so I told him that if he gets a tractor, then I get a four wheeler. :)
The plans we had to be back in Salt Lake for, was dinner for Sara.
She graduated from Nursing school, and her family threw her a dinner party at the grub, and we were invited.
We are so proud of her! (And quite a bit jealous.)

Here she is! My favorite nurse!
She got a job at Primary Children's, dealing with kids that have just had surgery.
Super stoked that she got it, because that means they're staying in Utah. :)

I'm a little sad that this turned out blurry, but it's still okay.
I can't believe I haven't written about this yet.
Weeks ago, during the basketball playoffs, when the Jazz were playing the Nuggets, John and I went to Cinegrill with his whole family.
John, Patty, and I were the first ones there and the second we sat down I looked across from us and who was sitting there?
The one and only.
Jerry Sloan.

I freaked out a little bit. I turned to John and said "That's Jerry Sloan."
And he didn't believe me.
I wanted to get up and go ask him for an autograph, or a picture but Patty told me that I wasn't allowed to because he was with his family.
He wasn't with his family.
He was with the entire Jazz staff, celebrating one of their birthdays.
Pissed.
He did wave and smile at us when he left though.
He knew we were fans.
Not to mention who else was there.
Frank Layden.
I was sitting next to a newspaper article about Frank Layden, and what he has done for this city
and the Jazz, and he was sitting ACROSS from me.
Sheesh.

I did get a picture of him.
Had to paparazzi it, but it works!
With playoffs going on, and the release of the new Jazz logo, I want one of these.

I love the throw back jerseys. I can't decide which player I would want though, because everyone has DWill, and maybe I want something different, ya know?

This is the jersey John wants.
Fesenko.
Unfortunately, at this moment, they don't sell a 44 jersey.
Whomp whomp.
Maybe soon.
I'll have to just wait though; I don't know what the new logo looks like yet, except that it's the Jazz note, and so I will just have to wait and see and then I can get a jersey!
I did get this though!

There is a place in Fashion Place mall that does vinyl stickers, and I decided I wanted the Jazz note. So why the old school, purple and green Jazz note?
LOVE IT.

I also got this! A new phone cover.
I love Coach.
And I am spoiled, yes.

My iPod broke about a month or so ago.
I got the red X of death, and it doesn't work anymore.
It makes sitting at a desk eight hours a day really hard.
I have been really good, and I haven't complained, but just in the last couple of days I've been missing it.
So, I'm buying a new one.
I'm choosing the Nano, because I like the fact that it has FM radio, and the whole pedometer ability thing.
Like I said, I'm spoiled.

This is something else I want.
But I'm going to have to wait until next Summer.
It's a Honda Metropolitan.
And the color is "Ghost"
I'm pretty much in love with it.
John wants a motorcycle, and I want a scooter.
Better start saving huh?

new additions

Introducing.
The Sactional.
So we've been looking into buying a new couch for a while, at LoveSac couches. We took a trip out to Fashion Place on Thursday to make a ring payment and ended up in the LoveSac store. The kid who was working, Matt, was all we needed to know that we had to have one of these couches.
I must say, this is the most comfortable couch I have ever sat on.
It was a bit pricey, but it has a lifetime guarantee (as long as the company doesn't sink) and it can be changed, both position and cover. Which is nice, because the way we have it now, it's called the move lounger, but we can move the bases and make it into a sectional if we need for sitting space for more people!
The building of it was a little complicated. It took some time to take everything out of the boxes and put all the covers on, not to mention that we built it wrong the first time, but we got it all up and running and we love it!
We could sleep on it, no lie. It's that comfortable.
And these are my cute new shoes. :)
I have been looking for orange pumps FOR-EVER.
I have a skirt that has different colored polka-dots on it, and I wear it with a cream colored shirt and an orange camisole. The problem has always been that black doesn't match, and neither does brown.
So I needed orange.
And I finally found them.
Thank you to Jenny and Patty for telling me about them.
They found them at Charlotte Rousse, and they were only 30 dollars.
Best part about it.
They were having a sale...buy one get one for ten dollars.
So...I got these
Same shoe, just in grey. But they are fab, and I think they will look SO great with jeans.
So excited!

so I was going to write about this the other day but as soon as I started my mother-in-law called and offered to take us for sushi, and I never turn down sushi.
Anyway. I'm here to vent. If you don't want to read it, then don't. But people lately disgust me.
To start off.
The Sloops.
If you don't live in the 801, or live under a rock then I'll give you a brief summary of this story.
Warning...it's messed up, and I will be including details which are graphic.

So, Ethan Stacy, a four year old little boy, is Stephanie Sloop's son. Stephanie and Ethan's father, Joe, finalized their divorce on the 28th of April and part of the court order was that Ethan comes to Utah from Virginia to stay with his mother for the summer. So, Joe sent his son to stay with his mother, even though he didn't want to, and his son didn't want to go with his mother. Ethan was reported missing on May 10, by his mother who said that he had a tendency of running away..the next day, us (the general public) learn that Ethan did not run away but he was murdered.
By his mother and step-father.
Ethan had been in Utah for less than ten days when his mother's boyfriend started abusing him. Hit him in the head several times, enough to make the little boy's brain start to swell. The Sloops then locked Ethan in his room and took off the doorknob while they went to the courthouse to get married. Nathan Sloop then burned Ethan in scalding hot bath water, and continued to beat him. Stephanie came home one day to learn that Ethan was dead in his bed. Nathan had beaten him so badly that he killed the boy.
I can't understand how you can give birth to a child and then do absolutely NOTHING to stop your boyfriend/husband from killing your four year old little boy!?
WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU!?
Then it gets worse.
Nathan had killed Ethan, and the two of them decided they had to get rid of the body.
The couple then took a hammer to the little boy's face to make him unrecognizable.
Nathan then sent Stephanie to the store to buy lighter fluid so they could destroy the evidence when they buried the body.
They traveled up toward Wolf Canyon, with Ethan's body in garbage bags. Stephanie waited in the card while Nathan took Ethan to bury the body; where he further desecrated it before burying it.
Then the two of them poured lighter fluid around the grave and lit everything on fire.

Disgusting. Absolutely disgusting. How messed up do you have to be to kill a FOUR YEAR OLD, that has only been with you for ten days, and then take a hammer to your own son's face?
What pisses me off even more is that the judicial system in the United States isn't the fastest process ever.
These are two people who have admitted to everything that they did, and they will still go through years of jail time, and trials until they end up in jail.
Then there is the whole "death row" process.
Texas is the best state when it comes to death row. It's like an express lane down there, and they kill people faster than anywhere else in the country.
If people are admitting to murder, then why don't we just kill them now?
I don't want to hear anything about cruel and unusual anything, they deserve everything that is coming their way.
Not to mention the poor dad of this little boy. He's across the country, this little boy is his life, and he gets phone call telling him of this awful tragedy.
I think we should let him take Nathan Sloop into a room and beat the shit out of him.
It won't bring his little boy back, but Sloop deserves every second of it.

Another person that absolute disgusts me at the moment.
Sean Hannity.
Oh my word.
John's grandma listens to his radio show daily while she irons for the laundromat and the other day John happened to be in the back room when Hannity started talking about the Mosque that is being built at Ground Zero in New York.
Hannity had the audacity to say that we are letting the people who blew up these buildings, build on this land.
EXCUSE ME!?
I absolutely hate people who group people.
First off, I don't know that I believe what the media says happened on 9/11, what the government says.
But I do know that Muslim Radicals is NOT every Muslim.
Wake up Sean Hannity, THEY'RE RADICALS.
JUST LIKE YOU.
How dare you state that because it is a place of worship for the Muslim religion, it's the same people that brought down the twin towers.
The worst part is that when he says things like this, people believe it and actually agree with his thinking!
Like Gram.
I really think someone needs to take her radio away while she's at the laundromat because she's filling her head with Hannity, and it's awful.

So I vented.
And I'm not as angry today as I was on Thursday.
But talking about it, still pisses me off.
Our world is going to hell in a hand basket.
Great.
