another project

I got sick of the reddish brown door.

So I painted it.

Oh, and I hated the gold mailbox.

So I painted it.

Tom and Mary

John and I have attended quite a few weddings this season. This is just one of them. Tom has been one of John's good friends for quite a while, and embarrassingly enough, we didn't meet Mary until their reception. Whoops. She's very cute, and they are very cute together.

The one and only Mandy Sorensen.

He's quite special. But we love him.

Love him.

Mr. and Mrs. Sorensen.

This is what they drove away in.

John is still jealous.

Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Haug!

The 'Johnstones"

We attended the Johnson family reunion in Lava Hot Springs the first weekend in August (that tells you how far behind on blogging I am). We went up Thursday night, drove through the most AMAZING lightening storm I have ever seen. John was kind of crapping his pants the entire way up, because if you didn't know, he is scared to death of lightening. Anyway, we made it, and we were supposed to be sleeping in a tent. But, it was after midnight when we got up there, and pouring rain, so Patty got us a hotel room. (Thank you.)

Friday we floated down the river. Except, the first part wasn't really a float. There are rapids at the top, and of course we wanted to experience those. There is a certain rapid, literally 15 seconds into the ride, that you want to stay to the left on, because it's a calmer ride. Of course, we went off the right side, on accident, and of course I was backward. I fell off the raft, followed by John, and the rest was a blur. All I know if after we got back on to the raft, John showed me his ankle. Instantly swollen, and bleeding. Great. Broken ankle. We had 2 1/2 hours left of the float, down to where we were staying, so John just stayed on the raft. It was really fun, except for the ankle part. Which ended up not being broken, not the bone at least. He has refused to go see someone about the tendons. He'll regret it later, I'm sure of it.

Friday night the families all dressed up as cavemen. Seeing as the theme was the Johnstones, like the Flinstones. We had planned out our costumes before we got up there, and I think they were the best.

Notice Jenny's armpit hair.

It was a fun weekend, even though we didn't get to join everyone at the water park because of the ankle situation. We have decided we want to go up in the winter and experience the actual hot springs.

the anniversary

Okay, I guess I can blog about what we did on our anniversary. It's only been over a week.
We both had to work, of course. But after work we got to spend some quality time together, which happens rarely. We started off the evening by heading to Fashion Place mall because my present from John was none other than...
A cute new pair of red TOMS. I've wanted them forever, especially because football season is starting again, and so he bought them for me! WHOO!
We then went to the Spaghetti Factory for dinner. I forgot how divine that place is. And of course you have to get an Italian soda and take home the fun glass.
After dinner we wanted to watch a movie, but didn't want to watch anything that we own because have seen all of them so many times, so we ventured over to FYE. Unfortunately, as soon as we got there they were locking the doors. Didn't realize it was already nine! So we headed up 21st to RedBox. The first red box was frozen, so we went across the street and it was just one giant fail. We ended up coming home and watching the first Harry Potter (and have continued to watch the entire series, we are currently on number 7, part 1. Once we finish them maybe we can finally see part 2.
Oh, and by the way, I'm not totally awful. I did get something for John. He just hasn't ordered them yet. . He wants broken pieces of glass to make mosaics of Nintendo characters
Geek alert.
Oh well, we love him.
Okay, so this picture was taken the day AFTER our anniversary.
Get over it.

grow family tournament of games

My cousin Stacey put together the first annual Grow Family Tournament of Games, and it was this past weekend. John and I showed up late because, being a Saturday, we had things we had to do. But it was fun once we got there! (And I hear it was even fun before we got there. ;))
Anyway, get ready for picture overload.
Here you go Liz.
How happy is this baby!
Um, I love when Jackson sticks out his belly like this.
These two were LOVING the hose.
I thought for sure it was going to pop on her. But it didn't!
I don't know...but I love him.
We played Minute to Win It games, and as you can see, Daniel won this one.
The cup game, turned into a relay.
John looks slightly terrifying.
Jan is hilarious.
No words.
Daniel made this one look easy. Just popped it off his forehead and into his mouth.
Three-legged races.
John's pants...
It was such a fun day!
The Roos family took home the coveted bowling pin, and apparently, it will be traveling our houses for the next year.
Ha. Love it.
